Consultation with third parties
Development proposals can fail because of opposition from planning officers, council members and local people. Consultation with these parties may result in the removal of opposition or at least knowledge of potential pitfalls before beginning a project.
Pre-application enquiries
With regard to planning officers Arrowsmith Associates carry out pre-application consultation to identify possible difficulties and objections, which might require modifying the client's initial intentions.
Council members
Where required, we make direct approaches to elected members of councils always bearing in mind their responsibility to retain an open mind until they have considered all the matters presented and discussed at committee.
Potential Public Opposition
Public opposition can often be avoided by tailoring development proposals to reflect public concerns and/or providing information to allay concerns. Consultation can be as simple as informal discussion with nearby neighbours but can extend to leaflets, exhibitions and public meetings. Arrowsmith Associates can organise and carry out such exercises on your behalf of clients or advise them on their own consultation strategies.
